Tyson Orth: The Mindset Shifts That Turned an Electrician Into a Business Empire Builder
December 13, 2025The trades industry is changing. For decades, skilled trades—electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians—were
viewed as ‘backup’ careers. Something you did if you couldn’t get into university. That narrative is dead.
Today’s reality is completely different. The demand for skilled tradespeople is at an all-time high. Wages are
competitive. Job security is strong. And the best part? The industry is being shaped by a new generation of
leaders who actually care about the people doing the work.
Tyson Orth is one of them. After 13 years as a hands-on electrician and project manager, Tyson made an
unexpected move: he left the trades to build an entertainment business. He scaled it to become the largest
operator on the South Coast of NSW. Then, at the height of success, he made an even more unexpected move:
he returned to the trades—but this time, as a visionary building something bigger.
THE FOUNDATION: 13 YEARS IN ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING
Tyson’s journey in the trades started straightforward. After completing his Electrotechnology studies, he joined a
commercial-focused electrical contracting company. Over 13 years, he worked across residential, commercial,
and industrial projects, managed everything from large-scale underground developments to complex fault
diagnostics, developed expertise in project management and scheduling, and became the company’s leading
hand.
This is the part that matters: Tyson didn’t just become a skilled electrician. He became someone who
understood business, leadership, and operations.
THE DETOUR: WHY HE LEFT (AND WHAT HE LEARNED)
After 13 years, Tyson started a side business in the entertainment sector. Within five years, that side project
became his full-time focus. He scaled it across 20+ locations and became the dominant operator in the space.
But here’s what’s crucial: the skills that made his entertainment business successful weren’t special to
entertainment. ‘I learned that business success isn’t about the specific industry,’ Tyson realized. ‘It’s about
people. It’s about building a strong team culture. It’s about leadership.’
THE RETURN: WHY THE ESSENTIAL SERVICES INDUSTRY NEEDS PEOPLE
LIKE TYSON
He could have stayed in entertainment. Instead, he asked himself a more important question: ‘Where can I
create the most meaningful impact?’ For Tyson, the answer was clear: the essential services industry.
Essential services are foundational. Every home needs electricity. Every building needs plumbing. Every
business needs HVAC. These aren’t luxuries. They’re necessities. This means: Job security, Economic
resilience, Community impact, and Growth potential.
THE VISION: REBUILDING THE TRADES INDUSTRY
Tyson isn’t just starting another service company. He’s on a mission to revitalize the trades industry itself. His
focus areas include: Creating Employment Pathways, Supporting Upskilling & Development, Building a Positive
Industry Culture, and Creating Multi-State Opportunities.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU (IF YOU’RE IN THE TRADES)
If you’re currently working in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related fields, understand this: the industry is
changing. The new model is: Companies that actually invest in their people, Leaders who came up through the
trades themselves, Real career pathways, Continuous learning and skill development, Competitive compensation
and job security, and Companies with a mission beyond just making money.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU (IF YOU’RE CONSIDERING THE TRADES)
If you’re a student, a career-changer, or someone exploring options, here’s the truth: The trades are the future.
Why? Because every society needs them. Every business depends on them. And right now, there’s a massive
shortage of skilled workers. This means: You won’t struggle to find work, Wages are competitive ($60K-$100K+),
Job security is strong, and You can build a real career.
THE OPPORTUNITY: JOINING A GROWING COMPANY
Tyson is actively building his essential services company across NSW and Queensland. He’s looking for
experienced tradespeople, apprentices and trainees, project managers, and technicians wanting to develop their
skills and advance their careers.
